It all started a few days after I came back from Chile.
I had decided to revive my ‘professional’ Instagram account with the videos I was posting as YouTube Shorts.
The first video was an instant hit (considering my measly follower count at the time).
My cousin, who works with Marketing, said I should boost it, since it was getting organic traction.
It took me a few days before I decided to bite the bullet. After all, I’d never boosted anything.
After having a complete array of videos (9+), I decided to take a chance and put some money into it.
I started with R$ 30 (a bit less than 6 USD), for 3 days.
And the results started piling up… quick!
Since then, my account exploded. As I write this, I have 163 followers (over half came from ads).
But IG was never my priority
The place I’m really putting my time and energy into is YouTube.
Its algorithm has built-in discoverability that favors the kind of content I like to make:
Punchy Evergreen Edutainment
I don’t want to be on an eternal hamster wheel, searching for the next big thing every day or two. I already tried this with AI one year ago, and it was exhausting.
I’m much more in favor of things based on first principles thinking.
The Evergreen Content that’ll still be valuable 5 or 10 years from now. That way, I can put in the effort NOW and have the results pile in for years on end.
Yes, I am lazy. But so are all the other smart people, aren’t they?
Breaking Limiting Beliefs → Apply The 10X Rule
On April 2, I wrote down on my notebook that I wanted to become a YouTube Partner ASAP. To do that, I would have to break 1K as fast as possible.
It’s easy to feel overwhelmed with the task of getting to 1,000+ followers when you start out with only 42.
Back then, thinking of the mighty 1K seemed more like a pipe dream than anything.
But I REALLY WANTED to get that result. I’m not reading Grant Cardone’s “The 10X Rule” just for show.
And what does Grant have to say about it?
“Your thoughts and actions are the reasons you are where you are. Therefore, it makes sense to 10x your thoughts, goals, and actions to achieve your further goals”
— Grand Cardone in ‘The 10X Rule’
So I decided to take a shot at boosting a couple of videos, just to see what happens.
Mind you that I had no idea what I was doing, I was just winging it.
But it made sense to try out:
A Long Form Video
A Short Form Video
That way, I’d be able to test the waters and gauge the differences between each video type. But not spend half my monthly budget.
I decided to put R$ 20 on the short one and R$ 30 on the long one.
They are the 2 videos at the bottom of this image:

I’ll break down the reasons why I chose these 2 in particular later on.
The important thing is that results started piling up.
OVERNIGHT!
Literally.
I went to sleep on April 7th with 44 followers.
Only to wake up the next day with 127.
It felt like Christmas Morning every day when I checked it!
Santa was delivering 100 new Followers a day.
The results started compounding.
I even told my friend that I thought I was being scammed by YT.
Like if my 10 Dollars boost was going to make a dent on their income. 😂
Isn’t this graph incredible?
It’s Not Just About The Money → The Real Growth Drivers
Of course, the boosts made a HUGE difference.
It makes no sense to have the best product in the world if no one knows about it.
No wonder, many companies aren’t the best at their craft, but manage to sell more by sheer power of omnipresence.
But the main driver was actually a change in my…
