Ever looked at a creator's life and thought, 'That's definitely not for me'?
You're not alone.
Writing my heart out on the internet?
HELL NO!
Putting my face out there?
Nope.
Doing videos?
Are you out of your mind? I hate looking awkwardly at the camera!
I’ve lost count of how many job opportunities I might have missed because recording a video was a mandatory step of the hiring process.
Do What You Must
In life, we often make up excuses to not do things that make us uncomfortable.
But here's the thing:
Those uncomfortable tasks are precisely what you SHOULD be doing. The digital age demands certain skills, and hiding won't save you from AI's rapid advance.
Human, All Too Human
You shouldn’t mix business and friendship, right?
I used to think this way as well. But it turns out… it’s the opposite! People LOVE buying from friends. 🤯
It makes sense when you think of it. How else would you figure out if someone did good business when there were no Yelp or Google Reviews?
People crave human contact.
The energy in a smiling salesperson can be felt a mile away. The feeling of connection with kindred spirits is irreplaceable. We were biologically and, perhaps, even spiritually, conditioned for this.
What Changed?
So what did I start doing differently this year?
What beliefs did I have to get rid of to lose the fear of ‘putting myself out there’?
What realizations did I come upon?
Here’s a short list:
1. Nobody knows what they’re doing.
Really, most are just fumbling around. The ones who seem to have everything figured out probably don't. And they got here way before you did. Chill.
2. Anyone can start an online business.
Ever listened to a terrible podcast and thought, "I could do better"? You probably can. And you'll figure it out along the way.
3. You’ll figure things out (if you really want to)
There are people in all shapes, sizes, ages, nationalities, family compositions… making a boatload of cash online. In the great cyberspace, you’ll find bored soccer moms competing with multinational companies. And beating them!
4. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder - and so is ‘value’.
That data and experience you've accumulated over the years and consider trivial? It might be gold to someone else.
5. If you can imagine it, you can do it.
People are producing Hollywood-Quality Movies with AI. And it’s still 2023. Ok, I’ll give it to you that they’ve set a low bar recently.
6. There are wonderful people out there!
If you’ve ever felt like the odd one out, wait no more. Your tribe is waiting online.
7. You can go faster alone, but together you’ll go farther.
Find your tribe. A band of brothers that’ll keep you accountable. And give you a hug.
8. Unleash your hidden talents.
You might be surprised at what you're good at. This year, I discovered I'm welcoming and... funny!
9. People secretly LOVE introverts.
Did you think charisma was all about being the loudest person in the room? Nope! Introverts have a secret advantage: they know how to listen. And there’s nothing people crave more than feeling seen.
This Year in a Nutshell
I feel like I went to Dragon Ball’s Hyperbolic Time Chamber this year.
I’ve experimented and learned so much in 2023 that it’s hard to even begin explaining.
For those not familiar with the concept, it’s a room in which time passes much faster than in the outer world.
1 day outside the room of spirit and time is equivalent to 1 year inside.
That’s how playing around in the so-called Creator Economy feels like.
My Final Piece of Advice
So, what are you waiting for? Whatever you are putting off doing, whatever excuses you are making...
Just Fucking Do It!

Gabe
